A design-led base in Tulum town, close to the restaurants and an easy ride from the beach and the ruins.

About the hotel

Aluna sits in Aldea Zama, a leafy, low-rise neighbourhood between Tulum town and the beach. It is not on the sand, but that is part of the appeal: you are close to Tulum's restaurants and bars, the beach clubs and the Mayan ruins, and come back to somewhere stylish and relaxed. It suits couples and friends who want to explore rather than stay put all week.

Rooms are small-scale and design-led, with natural wood, stone and lots of light. The main restaurant serves Riviera Maya cooking from breakfast to dinner, and the rooftop has a pool, a bar and a second restaurant looking over the jungle canopy. There is also a ground-floor pool with a swim-up bar. Borrow a bike, head to the partner beach club, then come back for sunset upstairs.
