About the hotel
Landaa Giraavaru is a long, leafy island in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO biosphere reserve known for its manta rays, and most guests arrive by seaplane. The resort feels relaxed and unhurried, with sandy paths, tall trees and lots of space between villas. It suits families particularly well, and anyone curious about the ocean, thanks to a marine centre that runs turtle rehabilitation and coral-growing projects guests can join in with.
Villas range from beach and water villas to large family residences, many with a private pool. Food runs from Middle Eastern dishes at Al Barakat to an open-fire grill at Fuego and a beach club, with a choice of bars for the evening. A typical day might start with yoga at the AyurMa spa, then a snorkel with the marine biologists, while children head to the kids' club and older ones try a trainee marine biologist session.
