About the hotel

Phāea Blue, long known as Blue Palace, is terraced down the slope at Plaka with Spinalonga sitting right across the water. It reopened under the Phāea name after a major renovation, and today it feels more intimate and relaxed, with a Cretan character running through the food and design. It works beautifully for couples, and families are well looked after too, with clubs for younger children and teenagers.

Bungalows and suites step down towards the sea, many with their own heated pool, and there is a three-bedroom villa with butler and chef service for bigger groups. Mornings might start with yoga, followed by a swim from the private beach or a snorkel over the rocks. Lunch at the Blue Door, a taverna in an old fisherman's house, is a highlight, and the spa is there for an unhurried afternoon.
