About the hotel
Santa Caterina is a classic Liberty-style villa on the cliffs just west of Amalfi, long run by one family, with terraced lemon groves and gardens falling towards the sea. It has an old-fashioned warmth that brings guests back again and again. It works well for couples, and for families with older children who want to walk into Amalfi and still have the sea right below them.
Rooms are bright and traditional, with majolica tiles and balconies over the water. A lift drops through the rock to the seawater pool and swimming platform, where you can spend the whole day on a lounger with lunch close by. Dinner is up at Glicine, named after the wisteria, or more casually down by the sea. There is also a spa and a gym for slower mornings.
