About the hotel

Built by John Jacob Astor in 1904, the St. Regis stands on East 55th Street just off Fifth Avenue, close to Central Park, MoMA and the best shopping in the city. Inside it is all chandeliers, marble and gilt, with a hushed, old New York feel. It suits couples on a special trip and anyone who loves classic glamour and service that thinks ahead.

Rooms are elegant and traditional, with marble bathrooms, and every guest has butler service, from unpacking to pressing a jacket. Afternoon tea in the Astor Court is a lovely pause between sights, and the King Cole Bar, home of the Red Snapper, an early Bloody Mary, is the place for an evening drink beneath its famous mural.
