Sandals Barbados sits on the south coast at St Lawrence Gap, a lively strip of bars and restaurants, but inside it feels relaxed and self-contained. It is for couples only, so it suits honeymooners, anniversaries and anyone who wants a properly grown-up break. Its sister resort, Sandals Royal Barbados, is right next door, and guests here are free to use both.
Many suites open straight onto a long lagoon-style pool, so you can step off your patio and swim. Between the two resorts there is a big choice of restaurants and bars, all included, from casual beach food to more polished evenings. Days tend to slip by between the beach, the pools and the spa, with water sports to try and plenty of places to finish with a cocktail.
